Getting Your Home Winter Ready

Beyond stocking up on salt and making sure snow blowers are in working order there are other important steps to ensuring your home is winter ready!
- Make sure you clean those gutters! This can prevent problematic basement leaks from forming.
- Caulk any masonry cracks that may have formed in the summer months as well as around windows and doors. This will help keep heating costs down.
- Have your furnace or boiler inspected to ensure everything is in working order before the first big freeze sets in!
- If you haven’t had your chimney cleaned in a while now’s the time to call in a chimney sweep, especially if you plan on using your fireplace regularly this winter! It is recommended that you have your chimney cleaned once a year.
